The Medina Kennel Club is offering a 3-week program to prepare you on the path of your CGC Title –  Canine Good Citizen Class

The Canine Good Citizen Class will start on Monday, May 19, 2025, and run through June 2, 2025. Class time is 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. This class runs for 3 weeks for $60.00 or you can show up on the last night to take the test only for $20.00. We will also test onsite for the Canine Good Citizen Advanced CGCA. For more information on the next session, check our calendar 

  • The cost is $60.00 for the 3-week course or $20.00 on the last day. (Test date- June 2, 2025) Refer to the Calendar for the dates.
  • It can be found here:  Medina Kennel Club Calendar . The class is always held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on a Monday.
  • Testing is conducted by accredited AKC Evaluators on the final day of the class.  The Testing fee is $20.00 and is included in the class fee if you attend all 3 weeks.

Responsible Owners, Well-Mannered Dogs. The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen programs are recognized as the gold standard for dog behavior. 
All dogs, including both purebred and mixed-breed dogs, are welcome to participate in the American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen Testing.

The 10 test items you and your dog must pass to get your AKC CGC certificate and title. These test items include:

  • Accepting a friendly stranger
  • Sitting politely for petting
  • Appearance and grooming
  • Walking on a loose lead
  • Walking through a crowd
  • Sitting and laying down on command including staying in place on command
  • Coming when called
  • Walking past a neutral dog
  • Reaction to a distraction
  • Supervised separation

Advanced CGC testing (CGCA and CGCU) is open to all dogs with their CGC and with an AKC number, including ILP, PAL, and Canine Partners
