To promote health and fitness for dogs and their owners
Now more than ever, fitness is important for both dogs and people. The most commonly recommended exercise to improve fitness is walking. Walking is considered a safe activity that improves muscular strength, circulation, memory, and weight loss, increases energy, helps with sleep, and reduces stress. The American Heart Association recommends walking a minimum of 150 minutes per week. Participation in the AKC FIT DOG program will bring health benefits to both you and your dog.
Medina Kennel Club is proud to be designated an AKC FIT DOG club. We promote the health and wellness of all owners and their dogs. We have various opportunities throughout the year to visit a variety of places with your dogs as well as the property here at our Training complex. Dress accordingly for the weather and always remember to bring your supplies for your dog(s) if they decide to leave something behind that was not there before. <big smile>
Our Fit Dog walks are for any age dog and no prior skills are required (These walks are not appropriate for aggressive or reactive dogs / No Flexi leads either.)
Bring a variety of treats & a well-fitted harness, gentle leader or flat buckle collar & 6ft leash. If you need assistance in choosing equipment for your dog before the walk, please give us a call!
